Designing the Public Spaces of the West Wing: Using Design to Shape a Warm Everyday Life
Amid the natural embrace of mountains and sea in Sanzhi, HOZI Design has skillfully blended modern minimalism with natural elements to create a living environment tailored for senior residents. This is not merely an architectural project, but a heartfelt response to the inner needs of each resident, elevating daily life into a warm and meaningful journey. Every corner and every detail reflects HOZI’s deep understanding of both beauty and function.
Design Concept: A Balance of Humanity and Modern Aesthetics
With “dialogue between people and space” as its core, HOZI Design integrates artistic aesthetics with practical needs, shaping a space that feels contemporary yet warm. Wood, stone, and metal are used in harmony. The palette centers on natural, warm tones, paired with gentle lighting to achieve an understated but elegant atmosphere.
The lobby, as the first impression of the building, uses stone with natural textures along with metal accents and refined lighting to create an ambiance that is both calm and uplifting. Wave-like ceiling fixtures intersect with metal wall lines, making the space feel as if it pulses with the rhythms of daily life, symbolizing the stories and dreams of each resident.
Space Breakdown: Details That Serve Everyday Living
1. Welcome Lobby
As the face of the building, the welcome lobby uses stone with natural
veining as the main material, complemented by metal detailing to create a sense of stability with energy. The wave-shaped ceiling lights and metal lines on the walls inject motion into the space, so that with every step, residents can feel the flow of time and the cadence of life.
2. Lounge Area
The lounge is defined by golden wave-textured feature walls paired with warm wood finishes, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. With a piano and sofas, it serves as an ideal place for residents to unwind, converse, and share stories. It is not only a resting area, but also a platform for emotional connection and community building.
3. Communal Dining Area
The communal dining space emphasizes shared cooking and eating as social activities. A long dining table combined with a central kitchen layout encourages interaction and bonding among neighbors. From preparing ingredients to enjoying meals together, every moment tells a story of sharing, warmth, and human connection.
4. Health and Fitness Facilities
The gym is designed as a streamlined modern space, integrated with large windows so residents can enjoy open views while exercising. The yoga room features soft wood flooring and mirrored walls, providing a comfortable environment for personal workouts and group classes, supporting a balanced sense of physical and mental well-being.
5. Massage Room
The massage room uses warm wood tones and soft lighting to create a private, calming retreat where residents can fully relax.
6. Laundry Room
The laundry room uses a bright, simple design. Wood accents paired with white finishes create a practical yet pleasant everyday environment, making even routine chores feel more comfortable.
Design Features and Value: Emotion in Every Detail
In material selection, HOZI Design leverages contrasts and combinations of stone, wood, and metal to form a visual language that is stable, warm, and contemporary. Every space, from the lobby to the dining area to the exercise facilities, is thoughtfully arranged to balance function with aesthetics, enhancing the quality of daily life for residents.
The HOZI team sees itself not only as builders of space, but also as carriers of emotion. Their nuanced design language ensures that residents experience comfort on a physical level and also feel the designers’ care and attentiveness in every layout
decision.
The Art of Living: When Space and Emotion Intertwine
In the west wing of the Sanzhi Senior Living Tower, space is not just a physical presence; it is a vessel for emotion and story. Through refined design, HOZI gives each public area its own life. These spaces are no longer just backdrops to everyday routines, but emotional anchors for residents. True design goes beyond fulfilling basic function. Good design allows people to find their place in the space, to feel warmth, relaxation, and happiness.
Here, life is not a monotonous repetition of days, but a collection of cherished memories. Every inch of space that HOZI has shaped is like a delicate musical passage, allowing everyone who enters to feel the beauty in each moment and to discover a quiet sense of comfort and belonging.
